Neighbourhood Action Group You can be sure – we are here to NAG you! Everyone wants to feel safe in and around the area they live and GDP want to make sure that this is the case for residents in the area. For this to happen it is important that services come together and work with their local community to make neighbourhoods a safe place to live and work. What is it? The GDP, in partnership with your Neighbourhood Policing Team, are co-ordinating the introduction of a ‘Neighbourhood Action Group’ to your area. The Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) is designed to work at a local level to secure closer relationships with local people. It provides a simple mechanism for your local service providers, e.g. police, city council, Cross Keys Homes, to work together to address issues that impact on how residents feel about their neighbourhoods. These issues could be:
Delivering services at this local level is critical to providing communities with the reassurance and confidence that we are all working together to make your community a safer, cleaner and greener place to live and work. Who is it? Your local North Neighbourhood Action Group involves representatives from:

Collectively we are your local NAGs Your elected Ward Councillors and members from the voluntary sector also contribute valuable information and support us in the delivery of actions to address local issues. YOU as members of the community also have a very important role to play and here’s how you can make a difference….. How it works: The Neighbourhood Action Group will focus on tackling the ‘here and now’ problems, as identified by YOU or via trends in crime. YOU can help by reporting all incidents of crime and anti social behaviour or by coming along to your local Neighbourhood Panel meetings and/or surgeries to raise issues about your area which are of concern to you. Members of NAG will also link with other relevant partner agencies which can help deliver actions and continue these actions to ensure neighbourhoods are safer places to live and work.
Learning from those who offer best practice Members of your local Neighbourhood Action Group and a number of GDP resident Board members visited Sandwell in the West Midlands in March. The purpose of the visit to the Safer Sandwell Partnership was to learn about how it introduced a Neighbourhood Action Group in its area. The Story so far….YOU SAY - WE LISTEN! Neighbourhood Panel …held jointly with partners and community members, it provides an opportunity for YOU to discuss issues affecting your neighbourhood such as speeding, anti-social behaviour, graffiti, fly-tipping etc. It also considers current crime trends, hears about the activities your neighbourhood policing team have recently taken as well as hearing about what issues have been raised over the previous three months. You will be informed by the Police and partners about the work they have undertaken to address the priorities identified at the previous meeting. You will also have the opportunity to add your views and concerns about the issues in your area which are important to you. You will have a role to play in setting the priorities for your neighbourhood and be made aware of who will deliver the actions to tackle these priorities. The police will consult you via regular surgeries, street briefings and ‘have a say’ days to ensure your views are considered at the panel meetings. These meetings are open to local people and public participation is important to ensure issues affecting your neighbourhood are being tackled. The next meeting will be held at King’s School, Park Road, Peterborough on Tuesday 9 September 7.00pm.
Monthly Inter Agency Street Surgeries ….have now been running for 4 months in the GDP area. Members of your local Neighbourhood Action Group and Ward Councillors undertake a door knocking exercise one day per month to give YOU the chance to talk to us about any issues about your neighbourhood that may be of concern to you. The locations for these surgeries are chosen based on problems known to agencies or will reflect the areas that have been agreed as a local priority at the Neighbourhood Panel meetings.
