Neighbourhood Management is a process which involves communities and local agencies working together to improve services at neighbourhood level.
Neighbourhood management aims to tackle quality of life issues in communities through:
- Improving the local environment
- Improving community safety
- Improving housing stock
- Working with young people
- Encouraging employment opportunities
The key to neighbourhood management is that residents concerns are more important in selecting and prioritising what activities are delivered within the area rather than agencies’ assumptions.
Local agencies have an important part to play in helping local communities, these include the local authorities, the police, health service, housing associations and voluntary organisations
